Reflection - Image Restoration
I chose this photo because it is very important to my family and it means a lot to them that I was able to restore the photo and bring some life back into it. The women at the top of the photograph is my great-grandmother's grandmother. The photo was taken hear in Montreal over 100 years ago, before they moved back to Italy after a short trip to Montreal in search of work.
During my restoration, the tools I used most frequently were the crop, band-aid and paint tools. In the bottom left hand corner, I cropped another piece of the image and rotated/blended it in to cover the scratch and missing corner. In the bottom right hand corner I painted/blended to cover the scratch running along the corner. I also adjusted the color contrast and enhanced the clarity of the image. The band-aid tool followed me through out the entire process, it was my best friend,
I really enjoyed this whole process because I now know how to edit or manipulate any photo. I also saw how much work goes into the littlest changes. It was such a joy to see how happy my family was to see the new photo. Such a great learning experience!
