I chose this photo because it is very important to my family and it means a lot to them that I was able to restore the photo and bring some life back into it. The women at the top of the photograph is my great-grandmother's grandmother. The photo was taken hear in Montreal over 100 years ago, before they moved back to Italy after a short trip to Montreal in search of work.
During my restoration, the tools I used most frequently were the crop, band-aid and paint tools. In the bottom left hand corner, I cropped another piece of the image and rotated/blended it in to cover the scratch and missing corner. In the bottom right hand corner I painted/blended to cover the scratch running along the corner. I also adjusted the color contrast and enhanced the clarity of the image. The band-aid tool followed me through out the entire process, it was my best friend,
I really enjoyed this whole process because I now know how to edit or manipulate any photo. I also saw how much work goes into the littlest changes. It was such a joy to see how happy my family was to see the new photo. Such a great learning experience!
I am glad you were able to find a family photo of such personal significance to work with. What a treasure. I am glad you were able to gain new skills and knowledge from this experience. Than you for exlpaining what tools you used. It would have been interesting to know what you used where, and for what purpose.
